Student opportunities and activities

At Ladysmith Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our extra-curricular highlights

Debating and public speaking

Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.

Creative and performing arts

Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.

Trips and excursions

Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.

Chess

Students can be involved in interest group tasks during lunch and recess including chess.

Music tuition

Our students have the opportunity to learn music during school time through the Riverina Conservatorium of Music (RCM). There are a large range of musical instruments that can be explored and all are taught by trained music teachers. Including violin, guitar and piano.

Student leadership

Here at Ladysmith Public School Year 5 students have the opportunity to participated in speeches to be nominated for leadership roles in Year 6. This process begins in Term 4, in preparation for their final year at school.

Athletics Carnival

We collaborate with Wagga Wagga Community of Small Schools (WWCoSS) to compete in our annual athletic carnival. Our athletic carnival promotes school spirit, confidence and fitness.

Swimming Carnival

We collaborate with Wagga Wagga Community of Small Schools (WWCoSS) to compete in our annual swimming carnival. Our swimming carnival promotes school spirit, confidence and fitness.

Cross Country

We collaborate with Wagga Wagga Community of Small Schools (WWCoSS) to compete in our annual cross country held at our very own school. Students have the opportunity to progress further to zone and regional levels.

Premier Reading Challenge

Each year, students have the opportunity to participate in the Premier Reading Challenge.
